(May 18, 2007) The CJA Information Page has been updated to reflect a cost-of-living adjustment to the non-capital panel attorney compensation rate from $92 to $94/hour for attorneys appointed to represent eligible persons under the Criminal Justice Act, 18 U.S.C. 3006A. The new rate applies to work performed on or after May 20, 2007.

(March 23, 2006) For cases filed on or after April 9, 2006, the federal court civil filing fee will increase from $250 to $350 and the appeal fee will increase from $255 to $455. To see the announcement, click here.

The U.S. District Court approved several proposed amendments to the Court's Local Rules that affect current LR 83.9 and 72.1. They are being posted for public comment until January 30, 2006. Increase in Fees for Contract Court Interpreters. The Administrative Office of the United States Courts has increased the maximum rates of payment for contract court interpreters, effective January 1, 2006.Language Skilled (Non-Certified)
Interpreters:
Full-Day $171
Half-Day $92
Overtime: $28 per hour or part thereof
The maximum rates apply to interpreter services provided to the U. S. District
Court, U. S. Probation Office and CJA appointed attorneys.
(January 3, 2006) The Electronic Case Filing Procedures for the District of Minnesota for civil and criminal cases have been updated to reflect changes regarding filings by pro se litigants. Filings by pro se litigants will no longer be scanned, they will instead be filed conventionally pursuant to Section IV of the Criminal Procedure Guide and Section VI of the Civil Procedure Guide. This is effective January 3, 2006, by order of the Court.
(January 3, 2006) The evidence presentation systems for the interim courtrooms in St Paul (180 E. 5th Street) are in the process of being installed in the courtrooms. Until the systems are fully functional, litigants should consult with court staff if they are planning on using evidence presentation in Courtrooms 1, 2 or 3. Courtrooms 4 and 5 are not equipped with evidence presentation systems.
(October 24, 2005) The St. Paul Interim space is complete. U.S. District Court Judges, Chambers Staff, and Clerk's Office employees are now calling 180 East Fifth Street home. Take a look at the finished space.
(October 6, 2005) The evidence presentation systems for the interim courtrooms in St Paul (180 E. 5th Street) are in the process of being installed in the courtrooms. Until the systems are ready, litigants are responsible for providing all evidence presentation equipment, as approved by the Court.

(June 29, 2005) The U.S. District Court approved two exceptions (Search Warrants and Pretrial Exhibits) to the Privacy Policy redaction requirements. These exceptions have been added to the June 24, 2005 version of the Electronic Case Filing Procedures for the District of Minnesota for Criminal cases. (June 14, 2005) The U.S. District Court, District of Minnesota ECF server and web server will be unavailable from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM on Saturday, June 18. This planned outage is required to maintain the health of the Pacer network.

(December 21, 2004) Attorney re-registration will begin on January 3, 2005. This year's registration will occur quarterly. Please read the following link to determine which quarter you will need to register.
(November 1, 2004) – As outlined in the Court Notice of 10/26/04, criminal case files will now be available electronically to the public over the internet. Pursuant to the E-Government Act of 2002 (Pub. L. 107-347) and the policy of the Judicial Conference of the United States, filers shall not include or shall redact personal identifiers from all documents filed with this court. The court has created guidelines, as an aid for filers, on Filing Documents with Personal Identifiers for criminal and civil cases.
(October 27, 2004) – Pursuant to the Judicial Conference of the United States Courts Policy on Privacy and Public Access to Electronic Criminal Case Files, criminal cases will be made available to the public effective November 1, 2004. See the Notice for additional information.
(October 18, 2004) – Important Information Regarding Electronic Case Filing Training and CLE Accreditation! The District of Minnesota has offered hands-on ECF training to attorneys and support staff since March of 2004. The Minnesota Board of Continuing Legal Education has accredited this training with two hours of Law Office Management CLE. Click on www.mnd.uscourts.gov/cmecf/cleletterr.pdf for details. The District of Minnesota will continue to seek CLE accreditation for this training through calendar year 2004. Beginning January 1, 2005, the court will offer the same training, but the class will not be CLE accredited. The District of Minnesota is upgrading its Electronic Case Filing (ECF) system this weekend. As a result, the Court has updated the Civil and Criminal ECF Procedure Guides, posted a summary of the changes, and has created a list of the new features available in the updated software.
(October 26, 2004) – Critical network maintenance will be performed on the InfoWeb main data server starting at 12:00 AM, Saturday, October 30, 2004. The server should be available by 1:00 PM the same day. Infoweb will not be accessible during this time.
(September 23, 2004) – On Friday, September 24, 2004 from 7:00 p.m. to 12 midnight the court will be doing some routine maintenance on it's routers. If accessing the courts websites or PACER information, you may experience disruption during this time.
(June 14, 2004) – The Final version of the ECF Procedures Guide for Civil, dated June 14, 2004 has been posted. A Summary of Revisions from the May 13, 2004 version has also been posted for comparison purposes.
