Senior Judge Richard H. Kyle

Richard H. Kyle was appointed by President George Bush and took office on May 15, 1992. He succeeded Judge Robert G. Renner, who took senior status.

Judge Kyle was born in St. Paul, Minnesota on April 30, 1937, and graduated from University of Minnesota Law School in 1962. Judge Kyle was in private practice for 29 years, and was partner in the St. Paul firm of Briggs and Morgan at the time of his appointment to the federal bench. He also served as law clerk to U.S. District Judge Edward J. Devitt in 1963 and as Minnesota's Solicitor General from 1968-1970. Member of Committee on Model Jury Instructions for the Eighth Circuit; Member, Judicial Conference Advisory Committee on Rules of Civil Procedure.
