Minnesota Division of Counties

Click To EnlargeThe U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota was established in 1858. In 1890 the district was divided into six divisions. Since 1960, sessions of the court have been pretermitted in the First and Second Divisions. At the present time, sessions of the District Court are held in Minneapolis, St. Paul, Duluth, and Fergus Falls.

Jury Division of Counties

Below is a list of counties in the state of Minnesota. The divisional offices indicate which division the jurors will report to when summoned for jury duty. This information can be found in the Local Rules for the District of Minnesota.

Division 3 - St. Paul

The Third Divisional Office draws jurors from the following counties:

Chisago, Dakota, Dodge, Fillmore, Goodhue, Houston, Mower, Olmstead, Ramsey, Rice, Scott, Steele, Wabasha, Washington and Winona.

Division 4 - Minneapolis

The Fourth Divisional Office draws jurors from the following counties:

Anoka, Blue Earth, Brown, Carver, Chippewa, Cottonwood, Faribault, Freeborn, Hennepin, Isanti, Jackson, Kandiyohi, Lac Qui Parle, LeSueur, Lincoln, Lyon, Martin, McLeod, Meeker, Murray, Nicollet, Nobles, Pipestone, Redwood, Renville, Rock, Sherburne, Sibley, Swift, Waseca, Watonwan, Wright and Yellow Medicine.

Division 5 - Duluth

The Firth Divisional Office draws jurors form the following counties:

Aitkin, Benton, Carlton, Cass, Cook, Crow Wing, Itasca, Kanabec, Koochiching, Lake, Mille Lacs, Morrison, Pine and St. Louis.

Division 6 - Fergus Falls

The Sixth Divisional Office draws jurors from the following counties:

Becker, Beltrami, Big Stone, Clay, Clearwater, Douglas, Grant, Hubbard, Kittson, Lake of the Woods, Mahnomen, Marshall, Norman, Otter Tail, Pennington, Polk, Pope, Red Lake, Roseau, Stearns, Stevens, Todd, Traverse, Wadena, and Wilkin.
